Kenly Scout Center Foundation

The Kenly Scout Center property is held and managed by the Kenly Scout Center Foundation, a federally registered 501(c)3 non profit. Our purpose is to provide a permanent place where all Kenly Scout groups can meet for regular meetings, training and group activities.

Shared Permanent Building for Meetings

Historically, local Scout groups have been responsible for finding their own meeting places. They have to bring their training materials each time which sometimes leads to late or ineffective meetings. Equipment has to be stored offsite without easy access for use during meetings.

Without a permanent meeting location there is not a place to display group awards, certifications and pictures which would help to inspire younger Scouts.

PHASES

PHASE 1 - PROPERTY IMPROVEMENTS (Complete)

In 2014, the Eskridge and Grady families donated 2+ acres of land to be used for the Kenly Scouts. With the majority of funds being raised through the Community Reverse raffles, approximately $21,000 has been spent on preparing the property. The expenses included clearing the property of all scrub trees and debris, grading of lot, adding an access road on the lot and preparing the street access road since we are the only ones using it. A picnic shelter and flagpole have been added in the past year.

PHASE 2 - BUILDING (Complete)

Quotes for a 40' x 60' x 12' high metal building with a 10' x 40' x 10' shelter across the backend and 6' x 6' x 9' shelters over each access door. With the building cost, permits, water and sewer hookups, HVAC, electrical, plumbing for bathrooms and kitchen, the budgeted cost is around $150,000.
